Mark your calendar for the kick-off our 2025-26 Sunday school year. We'll have a special combined opening for adults and kids at 9:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall, and announce those students moving up to new classes.

We Mourn the Loss of Gloria Godffrey
Gloria Godfrey, 88, of Cecil, died Sunday, June 29, 2025, in St. Clair Health. She was born January 5, 1937, in Cecil, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Storm Scanny. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeville. Gloria enjoyed word puzzle books, watching her grand and great-grandchildren play sports, going shopping and out to lunch, and cooking. Surviving are son, Richard (Susan) Godfrey of North Strabane; daughter, Tina (Tom McGinnis) Godfrey of Cecil; and son, Jerry Godfrey of Cecil; grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel) Godfrey of Fort Smith, Ark., Nicholas (Ann) Godfrey of Cecil Township, Evan (Alicia) Godfrey of North Strabane and Ian Godfrey of Cecil; along with great- grandchildren, Payton, Jackson, Bailey, Kensington, Henry, Ford and Olivia Godfrey; and sister, Gladys Kolljeski. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Godfrey, Sr. in 2020; sisters, Dolores Preaux and Joan Kovach; and her daughter-in-law, Anastasia Godfrey.

Join us each Wednesday for worship at 2:00 p.m. followed by a 30 min. Bible Study (starting at 2:30 p.m.) as we study a different Psalm each week for a total of 12 weeks. God truly is speaking to us, come and hear what He is saying!
Carl H. Bauer
September 13, 1941 – June 14, 2025
Age 83, of Kennedy Township, formerly of Chicago, IL. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Beloved husband of 56 years to Karen (Libricz) Bauer. Dear Father of Michael (Vanessa) Bauer and Dawn (George) Geregach. Brother of Richard (Pat) Bauer and the late Kenneth Bauer. Proud Grandparent of Payton and Hunter Bauer and Grant and Dustin Geregach.
Born and raised in Chicago, Carl and Karen raised their family in Wheaton, IL, before retiring to Kennedy Township, PA, where Carl enjoyed several years of working as an Usher at Pittsburgh Pirates Games. An avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, Carl was always watching sports, especially his grandkids' games. His favorite pastime was watching his grandkids excel at the things they loved most.
Funeral Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church 3197 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017 at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Internment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, Lutheran Hour Ministries, or Zion Lutheran Church, Bridgeville, PA.

A free will offering will be taken for Shepherd’s Canyon
Joanna Lee serves as the Deaconess at Zion Lutheran Church. She is the daughter of an LCMS pastor and is the third of six siblings. While serving as an LCMS missionary in Taiwan, she met her husband, Richard. Married in 2020, they now have a daughter, a son, and a baby due in September. Joanna obtained her Master of Arts in Deaconess Studies at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Within a two month span, Joanna experienced the sudden death of her father, was a first responder to people fleeing from a school shooting, and had an undiagnosed herniated disc. Attending a Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat was a great blessing and help to her in her journey of healing. Come to hear Joanna’s story, and more about Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat Ministry.

New Study on the Book of Jonah begins TOMORROW (Wed., May 21, 2025)
Each Wednesday at 2:00, Zion has a Mid-Week Service of Prayer & Preaching, followed by a Bible study. Tomorrow we begin the book of Jonah. Mid-week service and Bible study is a great opportunity for those who may be unable to attend worship and Bible study on Sunday -- the service is 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute study.

But in order to make this happen, we need people to sign up in advance using Sign-Up Genius.

We will meet at Escape The Room (1505 E. Carson St., 2nd Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15203) where we will play the escape room, eat dinner, and have a Bible study. Our youth group funds will cover most of the cost, but anyone who wants to participate will need to pay $20 to cover the rest. Parents are also welcome to play!
